Thank you to Lindsay for pointing out that the breakdown was not the result of failing to read the directions properly, it's been a pathetic lack of computer power this whole time.
As in: 256 MEGs.
As in: not even a GIG.
A few years ago, I bought the biggest Mac available (the now obsolete G-III) after a publishing company promised me design work and promised to send the software I needed in order to do it. Neither the software nor the work materialized, so my Mac was nothing but a $2,300.00 paperweight with an Apple logo on it, so I took some advice and switched platforms when the opportunity to study Law presented itself so I dropped another wad of cash on a PC with the largest stock desktop available. Today, people laugh at its "mighty" 256 megs.
Needless to say, I AM A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT THE NEED TO DROP A SMALL FORTUNE - AGAIN.
It was hard enough to come up with a few hundred dollars for the Wacom... looks like I've got to drop a lot more than that every couple of years to keep from going obsolete!!!
Until I can afford another computer... nobody is going to see any finished pieces from me anytime soon.
